90 SEPTEMBER 2015 COATINGSPROMAG.COM ENCOR 662 Acrylic Latex for High-Performance Interior Coatings Arkema Coating Resins, a business unit of Arkema Inc., recently intro- duced ENCOR 662 acrylic latex, a new high-performance all acrylic binder that delivers outstanding scrub and stain resistance and washability in low-vol- atile organic compound (VOC) interior architectural coatings. "Product devel- opers at Arkema have been continually working on improving scrub and stain resistance," John Hiel, North American marketing manager, explained. "ENCOR 662 technology is the latest result of that research. It enables coating formu- lators to develop fat and semi-gloss paints and coatings with extremely good washability and excellent scrub resis- tance properties." Specifc properties of ENCOR 662 acrylic latex include: • Easy formulation for flat to semi-gloss coatings; • Excellent abrasive scrub resistance in low-VOC formulations; • A balanced washability profile for both hydrophobic and hydrophilic stains; • Good block resistance; • Compatible in formulations using non-volatile coalescents. ENCOR 662 acrylic latex also meets the rigid standards of Arkema's EnVia certifcation program, designed to assist formulators in meeting their sustainability and regulatory goals in fnished paint and coating products. Among other characteristics, binders that meet EnVia standards are alkyl- phenol ethoxylates (APEO)-free and have total VOC less than 5g/L (0.7 oz/ gal.). Tis strong seal prevents paint bleed, which in turn gives walls the sharp- est paint lines possible. Te FrogTape family includes: • FrogTape Multi-Surface, a medium-adhesion painter's tape for use on an array of surfaces, including cured painted walls, wood, metal, and glass; • FrogTape Delicate Surface, a low-ad- hesion painter's tape that can be applied to fresh paint (at least 24 hours old), wallpaper, and faux finishes; • FrogTape Shape Tape is the latest innovation from the brand; the pre-cut painter's tape with repetitive designs in chevron, wave, and scallop patterns can be used to personalize homes with on-trend designs; • FrogTape Textured Surface enables users to achieve sharp paint lines on the most common textured surfaces, such as knockdown and orange peel.
