COATINGSPRO NOVEMBER 2015 11 meeting. One project is evaluating the air permeability in metal roof panels to measure the level of wind uplift this type of roofng can withstand. Te second project is a study on cool wall panels to reduce building energy usage; that will impact the urban heat island efect. Te third project is a study on the efects of spray polyurethane foam insulation on metal panels. Te results of the three studies are expected to make a signifcant impact in the indus- try and will take place over several years. Te air permeability research is being conducted at the University of Florida and will evaluate and character- ize the performance of discontinuous metal panels, such as modular metal roof panels and snap-together standing seam roofng. Research on cool walls is being funded by a grant awarded to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Research on the use of spray polyurethane foam insulation on metal panels is also being conducted for wall and roof assemblies. Te goal of this research project is to evaluate the efects of spray foam on metal. Tis project was proposed in conjunction with the Spray Polyurethane Foam A lliance (SPFA) and the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA). Jorge Farsky, the managing director of Walter Brazil, will assume the role of communications director of ABINOX, efective immediately. ABINOX is a non-proft organization whose mission is to promote the usage of stainless steel in the Brazilian market. Based in São Paulo, the organization provides its members with marketing support programs, industry training, sponsored education seminars, and assistance in the development and promotion of the industry. "It is an honor to have been invited to join the board of directors," explains Farsky. "Te opportunity to further connect with this segment of the industry is aligned with Walter's mission News From Around the Coatings Industry AEROLON Aerolon is shattering conventional thinking about conventional insulation, while also easily surpassing the insulating qualities of other fuid-applied coatings. Its innovative formulation features aerogel, the world's best insulating solid, which has an extremely low thermal conductivity. Aerolon greatly reduces the rate of heat transfer, and its energy-saving potential has been proven in test after test. By any measure of reliable thermal effciency, Aerolon is not just best in class; it's in a class by itself. For more information, visit tnemec.com/Aerolon. THERMAL INSULATING COATING IMPROVES EFFICIENC Y AND REDUCES ENERGY COST S AEROLON ALSO PROVIDES: • Exceptional Corrosion Under Insulation resistance • Personnel safety/protection from hot surfaces • Superior anti-condensation control characteristics • Greater ease of application and maintenance Wr i te in Re ad e r In q u ir y #81
