78 JANUARY 2016 COATINGSPROMAG.COM If Josephsen and technical manager Gneil came up with a reproducible and acceptable design, their future would likely be sprinkled with more BR projects. Fail, and their fedgling relationship with the BR design team would melt faster than a scoop of ice cream dropped on a hot sidewalk. Te duo had several things going for them. FLOORChef and Artepoxy are sister companies under Real World Epoxies. Aside from an awesome working relationship, Josephsen and Gneil knew that Artepoxy is available in Resin PA X, a packaging system designed to deliver precise product ratios. Resin PA X could help FLOORChef crews across Australia replicate any design chosen by the BR team. The crew next applied the basecoat, which went down in a single pass to achieve approximately 13 mils (330.2 microns) dry film thickness (DFT). They poured the coating out in ribbons, squeegeed, and backrolled it. The first step was to prep the concrete. It was ground, vacuumed, leveled, s anded, vacuumed a gain, thickened, and vacuumed yet another time. After all of that, the crew applied a mist-like pass of water-based primer.
