MEADOWS does its part in educating the architectural commu- nity by ofering 10 courses via the AEC Daily website, which not only helps teach aspects of diferent elements, including but not limited to building envelope, waterproofng, and concrete restoration, but also counts toward American Institute of Architects (AIA) credit. Detailing Air Barriers is the latest installment. Tis newly rolled- out course is one hour long and focuses on specifc techniques for installing the diferent types of air barrier materials. Te use of air barriers is an integral part of a high-performance building enclosure, and while most architects understand the whys, they may not be clear on the installation details. Tis course covers tricky details, including rough openings, roof-to-wall areas, and joints between diferent building materials. Tis program is registered with the AIA /Continuing Education Series (CES) for continuing professional education, and it is health, safety, and welfare (HSW)-approved. Te EcoQuip Demo Days tour debuted in Chattanooga, Tenn., in late June, and it wrapped up in Houston, Texas, in November. Te fve events attracted more than 150 people and 21 exhibitors. "We were very pleased with the turnout at these events," Graco Marketing Manager Aaron Craig, said. "Our goal of these events was to educate contractors on best practices for abrasive blasting," Craig contin- ued. "Tere isn't a dedicated blasting resource out there, and if Graco can help to move the industry forward, that is a beneft to all of us." Presentations given at the event included "How to achieve best profle" and "Benefts of vapor abrasive blasting." Another key component of these events included industry vendors that signed up to be exhibitors, such as BlastJournal.com, Barton Garnet Abrasives, GMA Garnet, Armex, CHLOR*RID, and HoldTight. Te events ended with a demonstration of the EcoQuip vapor abrasive blasting unit. According to Craig, the true value of this demonstration was to provide educational content for contractors who could use the information they learned to help grow their businesses.
