18 MARCH 2016 COATINGSPROMAG.COM N ACE International is pleased to announce the slate of ofcers for the 2016–2017 term. Te Nominating Committee confrmed its selection last spring. Terms for the selected candidates will begin March 11, 2016, the day following the close of the NACE Annual Conference and Exposition, CORROSION 2016, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Te ofcers shall be as follows: President Alexander I. (Sandy) Williamson, Vice President Samir Degan, and Treasurer D. Terry Greenfeld. About the Officers A lexander I. Williamson, president and principal engineer at Ammonite Corrosion Engineering Inc. (Calgary, A lberta, Canada), will serve as president of NACE for the 2016–2017 term. Williamson, better known as "Sandy," has been a member of NACE for 35 years. Most recently, he served on the Board of Directors (2009–2012) as Northern Area director. He has also served most positions within the Calgary Section (1980–1983), Bluewater Section (1991–1996), and Northern Area, including conference chair or sympo- sium chair of the annual Northern Area Western Conference (2003, 2005, 2006, 2011, and 2015). He has also held symposium chair seats for the NACE Oil Sands Conferences held since 2009. His volunteerism didn't stop at the area level. He has held positions on the NACE Foundation and NACE Foundation of Canada since 2007 and has been a member of the NACE Audit Committee since 2011. Williamson has 33 years of oil and gas experience in corrosion, materials, and inspection roles onshore, ofshore, upstream, and downstream. He received the NACE Northern Area Outstanding Service Award (1996) and NACE Distinguished Service Award (2008). He has held a Professional Engineer, A lberta certif- cation since 1984 and since 2011 has been a NACE Refnery Corrosion Course instructor. He obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Queen's University in chemical engineering. Samir Degan, managing director at Osnar Paints and Contracts (Mumbai, India), will serve as vice president of the NACE Board of Directors for the 2016–2017 term. In his 21 years as a NACE member, Degan has actively served in multiple leadership positions locally, nationally, and internationally. Most recently, Degan served on the board of directors as the East Asia Pacifc Area (EAPA) director (2011–2014), the Area Coordination Committee chair and vice chair (2012–2013 and 2013–2014), and on other committees related to standards, public policy, and education. He has been on the section governing board for 15 years and has chaired the CORCON conference, where he has led many successful initia- tives, including gaining the support of government agencies in the United States and Ministries of Government in India. From 2008 to 2014, he served in leadership roles for the EAPA committee where he helped diversify area activities beyond CORCON to hosting numerous courses, Bring on the Heat conferences, CORSYM, and more. Degan is certifed in Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Levels 1 and 2 and holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from St. Xavier's College, a Master of Science degree in organic chemistry from the University of Bombay Institute of Science, and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan. D. Terry Greenfeld, principal consultant, CorroMetrics Services, Inc. (Mobile, Alabama, USA), will begin his second year of a two-year term as treasurer of NACE. Greenfeld has been a member of NACE since 1994 and has been actively involved within NACE since 1997 when he became a CIP instructor. He served as chair and trustee of the Mobile Section and has served as vice chair, then chair of CIP, and vice chair of the Education Activities Committee. His technical service includes vice chair and chair of NACE Specifc Technology Group 04 and chair of Task Group (TG) 402 and TG 340. Greenfeld has presented Coatings Asset Management Forums, includ- ing presentations at numerous NACE conferences for more than eight years. He has also presented around the United States and internationally on behalf of NACE. In addition to his CIP instruc- tor certifcation, Greenfeld holds an Ofshore Corrosion Assessment Training (O-CAT) and Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training (S-CAT) Technical Certifcations. He is an instructor for NACE O-CAT, S-CAT, and Protective Coating Specialist, and is a CIP lead instructor including bridge, marine, and nuclear specialty courses.
