Stephanie Marie Chizik Editor I t's election month here in the United States. At this point, I'm sure you're all sick and tired of hearing about the candidates, local and national. (I know I am.) But we have voting for a reason here, and I'm definitely a believer in sharing my opinion through the ballot. I don't say that to bring up politics, but rather to say that we all have opinions, needs, and aspirations. And we've all probably participated in something where voting was used in one way or another. Well, we're going to give you another way to participate in a ballot…this time on the receiving end. CoatingsPro has officially opened the inaugural Contractor Awards Program, and we want you to submit your projects and crews! We're celebrat- ing our 15-year anniversary in 2017, and what better way to celebrate than to be able to share the success with you? Our Editorial Advisory Group will be voting on winners for each category, but there's no way you can win if you don't submit! Winning Contractors Our November issue has a few stories throughout, highlighting some other "winners." Enduring for nearly 40 years in the coatings industry is certainly one way to win. Check out this issue's ProFILE to see how Ron Puszynski has prevailed (page 56). Winning on the safety front is always something that we like to share here at CoatingsPro. is issue's Safety Watch should give you a few tips on how to succeed in picking and wearing proper fall protection. at article can be found on page 22. e features this month also share some figurative and literal winners. e contracting company in the article titled "Jacked Up Tank Job" is the first company to achieve their NACE International Institute Contractor Accreditation Program (NIIC AP) accreditation (although on a different project). You can see how they completed the work on this tank and get a bit more info on that program starting on page 32. e contractors in the feature title "Cracking the Surface of a Truck Wash Bay" helped their client win by creating a contained area using high-performance coatings. ere was a specific solution for this specific problem, which you can read more about on page 44. e other feature shares how the coatings applicator gave the client a leak-free roof and a branded experience for hotel guests. e collab- oration details in that article, found on page 26, titled "Hotel Coatings Transform Lakefront Roof," sure do sound like a win/win! Winning as Perspective Winning certainly isn't everything. Sometimes just getting to play in the game is enough of a challenge for people to be happy — an answer that you might get by asking, say, an Olympic athlete. As it turns out, the difference between winning and "losing" may just be a matter of perspective. And as always, please share with us any opinions, needs, and aspira- tions that may help us create a better magazine for you! CP
