Tensioned Wire Blasting e Bristle Blaster® technology (Tensioned Wire Blasting), introduced in 2007, is an innovation in surface preparation. Designed for professional industrial use, the Bristle Blaster® tool is able to remove corrosion, mill scale and coatings from pitted surfaces and hard-to-reach areas. It is the only hand-held tool worldwide capable of generating surface preparation grades comparable to SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2 up to SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1 and a surface roughness profile of up to 4.7 mils (120 μm R z ) simultaneously achieving results comparable to abrasive blasting processes. e key feature is the accelerator bar. It temporarily halts and subsequently accelerates each bristle during rotation and causes it to increase the kinetic energy of the bristle tip impact- ing the surface. Immediately after the bristle tips strike the surface they retract providing both corrosion removal and micro-indentations that exposes a fresh surface. Industrial coatings, mill scale, protective wraps and other protective products, presenting a challenge for grinding and lesser tools, can be removed achieving a near white metal cleanliness. Depending on the area of application, the operator can choose between the Bristle Blaster® Electric weighing 4.9 lbs (2.2 kg) and the Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic weighing 2.4 lbs. (1.1 kg). e electric powered unit offers the option for applying our technology where no compressed air is available or is impractical whereas the pneumatic unit offers a lighter and more compact drive unit powered by compressed air, an advantage when MONTI Tools Inc. 10690 Shadow Wood Dr, Ste. 113 Houston, TX 77043 (832) 623-7970 info@monti-tools.com www.monti-tools.com electric is not available. e Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic also offers a surface preparation solution for use within potentially explosive environments certified with an ATEX approval (Ex || 2Gc || A T4 X) for applications in Zone 1. Applications Typical applications of the Bristle Blaster® tools include maintenance & preservation and new construction areas such as protective coating spot repairs, weld seam preparation (pre & post-weld) and corrosion management. Advantages of porta- bility, safety and environmental performance make the Bristle Blaster® a versatile solution throughout a number of industries including offshore and shipbuilding, pipeline and steel construc- tion, hydro engineering, petrochemical, protective coating and structural enhancing product applications.
