Porsche Elevator Upgraded With Epoxy I magine a life where you own your very own Porsche — a 718 Boxter, 911 Turbo, whatever you'd like. You drive your wheels to and from work (and play) around the streets of Miami. You take in the blue and green waters that surround you on both sides — the Intercoastal Waterway is on your left, and the Atlantic Ocean crests on your right. You're heading home, going north on the A1A, to a condo made just for you and your car. After all, what's the point in having a beautiful machine if you can't show it off at all times? Well, they've turned this dream into a reality — a 60-story- tall reality to be exact. With 132 units, the Porsche Design Tower in the Sunny Isles area of Miami is luxe with a capital L. e condos have wall to wall windows, views of the surrounding city and seas, outdoor pools, and the piéce de résistance: a place for your prized possession inside your condo. As Robin Leach would say, these are the lives of the rich and famous. But it should come as no surprise that there are a few steps a luxury condo owner such as this must follow before getting his or her car from the streets of Miami to the 14th, 25th, or 59th floor. Before enjoying your pride and joy up top, you must drive your Porsche into the garage and onto an elevator. Here's where Desco Floor Systems' story at the tower begins. Leaders of the Pack "It's really a unique project with extremely high-end condos, and underneath it is this parking garage," said Desco's Co-Owner Mark Verry. "It [the elevator] takes their car up to their personal floor and then parks it into their garage for them." But because the building already had tenants living in it, there were people already using the elevator. at meant that the crew had only four days to completely coat the garage and elevator floor with the chosen Sika epoxy system. e building and the Desco crew wanted to inconvenience the owners as little as possible. "So we were...trying to get this project done quickly," he continued. According to Verry, this project wasn't complicated, but it did come with a high-profile ticket.
