Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, MPI is dedicated to the estab- lishment of quality, performance, and sustainable coatings standards and desccribes itself as the leading paint performance certi€cation organization in North America. According to the organization, O'Malley brings extensive experience and expertise in business manage- ment, protective coatings testing, standards development of both indus- trial and commercial coatings, and asset protection. "After bringing MPI under the umbrella of the NACE Institute in 2017, we experienced growing demand for the organization's expertise from both the commercial and industrial paint markets," said Helena Seelinger, execu- tive director of the NACE International Institute. "We needed someone with an established track record for business leadership and a strong grasp of the coatings industry — we found that and more in Cynthia." In this new role within the NACE Institute, O'Malley will focus on business development, building relationships with speci€ers and paint manufacturers, meeting global and industrial market needs, and upgrad- ing the existing key product areas of testing/standards and training. She will be directly responsible for the overall operation, performace, and success of MPI business. "I look forward to joining the team at NACE by embracing the leadership opportunity at MPI," O'Malley said. "I was fortunate to be involved in establishing the MPI United States laboratory testing program and have been a member of NACE for decades. NACE has been helpful to me through- out my career, and I am excited to be a part of an organization with such an esteemed history of industry service and leadership." O'Malley joins NACE after more than 20 years with KTA-Tator, Inc., where she has served as vice presi- dent and professional services group manager since 2016. In that role, she became an integral member of the organizations strategic development team, the purpose of which is to identify and de€ne the organization's culture, align its base values with its brand identiy, and support future growth and the expansion of services. Prior to that role, O'Malley served as director of KTA's laboratory services by directing all e˜orts to provide paint, corrosion, and material testing services. During her career, O'Malley has taken on core leadership roles in NACE International and SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) associations.
