He also knew that these buildings often tend to have vents on the roof. ese vents are a problem when you are applying coatings on the roof because they will suck any oending fumes down into the building. He knew that would not work for any client, especially a school or a hospital. So when he landed a job applying coatings to a school roof for the Pinellas County School Board in St. Petersburg, Florida, he knew he would need to be prepared. W hat did he do? e solution came because of Tooley's approach to the industry and a speci€c system for this roof 's ailments. New Approach Tooley is the founder and president of Elite Roof Systems LLC, in Kansas City, Kansas. He has been in the roo€ng industry for more than 30 years and has worked with a wide variety of clients in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors of the roo€ng industry. He spent about 16 years in the industry, and then began to notice "that the quality of workmanship was dwindling away in the roo€ng industry," he writes on his website. "Primarily because most of the competition began using all sub-contract labor," he adds. Tooley wanted to be dierent. He vowed that at Elite Roof Systems, he would never use sub-contract labor. "I then discov- ered through my 30 years of personal experience, through extensive research, and through thousands of roof inspections that about 9 out of 10 roofs were installed wrong from day one," he said.
