20 JANUARY 2019 COATINGSPROMAG.COM T he International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), based in Herndon, Virginia, has named NACE International as the recipient of its esteemed 2018 Innovation of the Year Award for Technology Integration. e award recognizes the " best of the best" in technology integration and innova- tion, according to IACET officials. IACET 's stated mission is to advance the global workforce by provid- ing the standard framework for quality learning and development through accreditation. Nominees must be an IACET Accredited Provider in good standing. Awardees cannot be IACET sponsors, and an organization is not allowed to win the same award more frequently than once every five years. "With the high-quality, competi- tive submissions the awards committee received, selecting the 2018 recipient was a significant challenge for the committee," said Carol Martsoff, chair of the awards committee. "We congrat- ulate and honor NACE International for its achievement." NACE International 's virtual training simulator program for its cathodic protection (CP) education is a 12-station virtual training program that allows students to refresh CP skills, keep up with current practical techniques, and prepare for CP classes and exams. e simulators enable students to work through step-by-step, real-life testing scenarios that are encountered in a live CP environment. "is award is especially gratifying as I believe the ability to integrate and lever- age digital technology into our products and services is not just key to our future but absolutely critical in the coming digital age," said Bob Chalker, CEO at NACE. "e fourth industrial revolution is being driven by a fusion of technolo- gies and is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. It is critical for NACE to be ready for this revolution. Being recognized for our innovation in education is a great indica- tor we are on the right path." e recognition also highlights the work of NACE's education and informa- tion technology (IT) departments. "A very large part of this award belongs to our IT team," said Pam Nicoletti, director of education at NACE. "We are grateful to our IT team, not only for their work on the simulators but for the impressive technology and integration they bring to the organization every day." Award recipients were honored at a recent reception held at the Hilton Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas, where approximately 75 continuing education Did You Know? CORROSION journal is celebrating its 75 th anniversar y in 2019. The publi- cation features peer-reviewed technical ar ticles from the world's top researchers and provides a permanent record of progress in the science and technology of corrosion prevention and control. As par t of the celebration, CORROSION is redesigning the journal's layout and website while launching new web content, featuring special historical content, a focus on individual authors and research labs in the CORROSION communit y, a monthly open access feature on the website, and social media how-to videos for authors. The journal will also feature exclusive content throughout 2019, star ting with a 75 th anniversar y special issue in Januar y, dedicated to research by the journal's edito- rial board. Other monthly issues with special corrosion research themes are March, May, and August. CORROSION is also planning to offer updated perspectives on classic ar ticles in the form of essays giving a current take on some of the journal's most popular historic ar ticles. Other planned highlights include a 75 th anniversar y compilation featuring an ar ticle from ever y decade of CORROSION, digital downloads of full special issues, and special subscription offers. and training professionals gathered for the ceremony.
