EDCO manufactures both grinders and scarifers, which not only create a surface profle but also remove any existing coating material from the concrete substrate. "Te Direct Drive Grinder that can resurface hundreds of square feet per hour, as well as remove hard coatings, and the Heav y-Duty Floor Grinder/Polisher is capable of removing industrial strength coverings like waterproofng membrane, polymer, thick epoxy, and urethane," said Stanczyk of EDCO. Another Option: Abrasive Blasting Abrasive blasting is another option that coatings contractors have when it comes to creating a surface profle. On concrete, Sponge Media can achieve concrete surface profile (CSP) one through eight, as authored by the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICR I). Sponge media products produce less surface fractur- ing of concrete than other ty pes of abrasives, resulting in stronger adhesive strength between the coating and the concrete," explained A nni. Wet abrasive blasting is another t y pe of abrasive blast- ing technique that can be used on concrete. In this process, water is injected w ith abrasive med ia and then projected onto the substrate.
