COATINGSPRO MAY 2016 17 TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Spray Polyurethane Foam Chemical Health and Safety Training A s par t of its ef for ts to suppor t safet y and product stewardship, the A mer ican Chemistr y Counci l (ACC)'s Center for the Poly urethanes Industr y (CPI), in cooper- ation w ith others, developed and launched spray poly urethane foam (SPF) training courses that are avai l- able f ree to weather ization professiona ls, SPF applicators, and helpers who work w ith low-pressure and /or high-pres- sure spray poly urethane foam. Te training provides information about the use, handling, and disposal of SPF, potential health hazards, and control measures, including engineering controls and personal protective equipment (PPE). Tere are two courses available: low and high pressure. Trainees have the option of taking one or both of the CPI SPF training courses. Select the course(s) that best fts your profession. Te courses have been approved by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and RCI, Inc. Continuing Education Hours (CEHs). Once students have completed the CPI Training course and received their recognition of completion, they must submit additional information to BPI for CEUs. T his training is f ree, avai lable online to complete at your ow n pace, and can be completed in English and Spanish. T he course describes the composition of paints and other coatings and how to use brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other tools of application. T he course also describes how to prepare new and existing surfaces for coating and explains the easiest, most success- ful techniques of application. TPC Training Systems is authorized by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (I ACET) to offer 0.7 continuing education units (CEUs) for this program.
