42 JULY 2016 COATINGSPROMAG.COM keep walking paths for pedestrians around work areas." Tey use signage on the ground to mark of any areas where people can't walk — or ride their golf carts, for that matter. Root for the Home Team McGraw visits Busch Stadium III with his family several times a season. "I have a fve-year-old boy, and I was pointing out to him what our guys are doing," McGraw said about his last trip to see a ball game. W hen his son asked how they access the upper deck, McGraw got a chance to show his son what dad and the rest of the coatings crew do at work every day. "Driving down the road and showing your kids the bridge or lock and dam coatings projects you've worked on is one thing, but to get to be a part of something as iconic as recoating your home team's stadium and getting to take your kids there to show them? Tat might only come around once in a lifetime," McGraw said. With two more years on the contract, the project should be completed in the fall of 2018…assuming they don't go into extra innings! At the end of the job, McGraw, a 10-year coatings veteran, will forever know that he was a part of something special. "It's not very often in this industry that you get a project that is important to you on a personal level," he said. "I don't know how many bridges can pull at the heart strings of a person — or how many storage tanks — but an industrial job that has some emotional connection? Tat's important. At least it was to me." Te same goes for the US Coatings' team, which also hails from the area. "It's exciting to be able to have that project as one of our show pieces and mean so much to the city of St. Louis," Nenninger said. "If you're a Cardinals fan, you're a part of Cardinal Nation. To be a part of that is really exciting." As far as he's concerned, this crew is hitting home runs. "Tomas has a good group of guys out there," he said. "I know they put in a lot of efort to make it look good." Te Cardinals have had winning seasons since 2007, which includes the entire time that Tomas Industrial Coatings has been on the job. Te crew is rooting not only for the Cardinals to fnish this season successfully, but they hope to follow the same curve. After all, you have to root for the home teams! CP The Busch Stadium recoat included Musial Bridge, named after Hall of Famer Stan Musial. That structure is modeled after Eads Bridge located around the corner from the stadium. It too has been affected by TIC! This project was special for all. "It's exciting to be able to have that project as one of our show pieces and mean so much to the city of St. Louis," said US Coatings' Eric Nenninger.
