Tere are defnitely reasons to love winter, spring, and fall, too (if you have access to them). And, of course, summer may also mean days of 90 degrees (32.2° C) with 90 percent humidity (at least there are a few of those where I live). But the benefts of these warmer months far outweigh the negatives, as far as I can tell. Te extended hours of sunshine, outdoor activities, vacation time, picnics and barbecues, new movies, and national holidays are just a short list of the many reasons why people love summertime. For some of you, these longer and warmer days may also mean more work on your plate in general or more work to do on the job (e.g., testing jobsite condi- tions and accommodating increased passersby and events). Hopefully, summer also means a little freedom to enjoy some time with your families — and possibly read a few more pages of CoatingsPro! In This Issue We've compiled a few summer-related features in this issue, and I'm excited to share these with you! Te frst is a recoat of the Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. Nothing says summer like a baseball game. You can check that story out on page 36. To continue the summer theme, we have a green roofs project at a community college this issue. Te words "school 's out!" are long awaited as a summertime anthem. Tat project profle can be found on page 48. Te other feature, although not necessarily related to quintessen- tial summer topics, showcase a crew working on an installation during those months. Read about the coating process at an almond processing plant's foor on page 28. Tat's a nutty job worth perusing! In addition to the three features, this issue also has some great informa- tion on year-round concerns: collecting payments, selecting the right respi- rators, and avoiding the pitfalls of equipment that sits too long. Tose are our Money Matters (page 14), Safety Watch (page 24), and Notes From the Fields (page 20) columns, respectively. Parting Thought Te summer months also bring a few additional safety aspects to the forefront. Make sure you're giving your crew members proper gear, breaks, and refreshments. And be cautious of summertime drivers. W hether you're driving to a jobsite or a vacation desti- nation, it seems that more people are on the road. Safety, in all aspects, should always be at the forefront of our minds — even on vacation. Be safe out there and enjoy your summer! CP
