Commercial Concrete Premier Veneers COATINGSPRO MAY 2017 15 First place in the Commercial Concrete Category was awarded to Premier Veneers. T heir project, titled C A M Business Offices, covered 2,450 square feet (227.6 m²) of new and old concrete in Detroit, Michigan. T he submission included details on how the crew overcame a variety of challenges on this project. "Decorative concrete f loor- ing is usually among the last work in a building to be done and requires exclusive control of project space. Well in advance, I had 15 days scheduled for this work, but other trades missed deadlines, postponing the opening of the building and move-in of tenants. T his delayed the start of my work and cost the ow ner 'tens of thousands of dollars per day.' As a result, I was forced to condense my work, move back and forth from room to room so that other trades could continue their work, and repeatedly repair damage done to my work by the other trades (e.g., footprints and spilling of tar). I worked 18 -hour days so as to do so, including nights, weekends, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve, most of the time w ith limited lighting and heat in the middle of w inter. But I was able to do so in a construc- tive manner w ith the ow ner and project manager, and I finished the decorative concrete f looring work in just 11 days."
