Assessing what you've accomplished in years past and making goals for the future are a part of owning a company. Do you want to grow financially or geographically? Do you want to maintain your profits or reach higher goals? Can you begin to step back from the day-to-day activities and start spending more time with the kids or grandkids? A lthough reflections don't neces- sarily need to take place just at the beginning of the year, it might be an easier way to put a pin in the board to make some assessments. Getting a Baseline To help you get a baseline of what you've done and what you want to do with your company, we've included a wide range of information in this issue of CoatingsPro Magazine. Taking the pulse of your company now just might help you achieve what you want in the future. To start, is your company making marketing moves to achieve your goals? Consider all of the different aspects of marketing to build a successful plan. at article can be found on page 24. Safety should always be one of the top priorities of your company, but knowing the ins and outs of each area of safety — from helmets to steel-toed boots — may be a bit overwhelming. e Safety Watch article in this issue (page 36) covers the ins and outs of disposable gloves. Are you picking that item appropriately for your crew members' needs? And don't forget about how you' ll continue to share your knowledge into the future. Several local chapters in Eastern Pennsylvania collaborated to create a mentorship program for young women in their area. If labor shortages have hit your area, building your own mentorship program internally or externally may be of use. See those tips on page 28. e feature stories, as always, include a variety of information that may help you consider other tips and tricks that come straight from the jobsite. Using a brand new machine on the recoating of a Harley-Davidson rooftop (page 50); adapting to summer- time heat while spray applying a lining and coating to a Texas steel tank (page 84); and avoiding costly fixes on a floor coating failure that might not have been the contractor's fault (page 94) can all be found within these pages. Take Your Mark is winter, many T Vs will be tuned to the Winter Olympics. Between watch- ing the curling, luging, and skating competitions, consider taking stock of your company's progress. Maybe you' ll be winning your own award soon from CoatingsPro's second annual Contractor Awards Program! (anks to all who entered this year.) It's January, so take your mark, get set, and go! CP Happy 2018! Stephanie Marie Chizik Editor
