Coating Unit Rescues Hangar Floors for Sheriff's Department W W hen the coatings on the concrete floors of two hangars at the San Bernardino International Airport failed (twice!), help was needed — and quickly. e two hangars were to house the helicopters and small jets of the San Bernardino Sheriff 's Department Aviation Division, and the Sheriff 's Department was eager to get the problem fixed and bring in its fleet of aircraft. Luckily, Sunbelt Flooring and Tnemec knew just the right solution to get the damaged concrete floors rehabilitated and then protected with a durable and functional epoxy self-lev- eling system. Tactical Efforts San Bernardino's Sheriff 's Department Aviation Division is a critical component of law enforcement in the region. At 20,000 square miles (51,799.8 km 2 ), San Bernardino is the largest county in the continental United States and is a haven for outdoor and hiking enthusiasts. e terrain of the region ranges from wetlands and desert to wilderness and mountain peaks. Mount San Gorgonio, the highest peak in all of Southern California, is located in this geographically diverse county. Considering the size and terrain of the county, it is no surprise that the aviation division was formed in 1972 to provide support to county as well as federal, state, and city law enforcement agencies. e division's missions include general law enforcement support, search/rescue/recovery, wild land fire suppression (all helicopters are equipped with water dropping capabilities), surveillance and transport, including emergency medical transport, and other special and tactical operations. Over the years, the division has expanded to fulfill the needs of the county. Currently, the San Bernardino Sheriff 's Department has 15 aircraft in the aviation division, including FLOOR EPOXY CONCRETE
