COATINGSPRO SURFACE PREP 2018 31 efficient and faster [manner]," Cook said. ey didn't need to worry about contaminating the facility's system because it was already set up for glass and water, which was all that they were using. "ere's no toxic nature to it, and we didn't use any chemicals or detergents. It's just water and grit," he said. Once all 900 square feet (83.6 m²) of the floor was covered, the crew gathered as much of the spent abrasive as they could using shovels and brooms. ey put up floor fans to help dry the concrete overnight. And with that, they packed up and headed back to home base. Next Up… A lthough Geo-Blast has applied coatings in the past, especially to re-galvanize cooling towers, this job required a different crew for the concrete repair and coatings. It required a special expertise to prepare the surface, so the service of concrete coating experts made sense, too. After six straight hours of work and two hours on either end of the job for mobilizing and demobilizing, it was time for the Geo-Blast crew to pass the baton. CP Facility Floors Geo-Blast's last task on the 900-sq.-ft. (83.6 m²) job was to set up floor fans to dry the concrete. Those worked on the floor overnight and got it ready to be coated. All of the work was completed after the facility had shut down for the day. But Geo-Blast still needed to place a perimeter around the area to restrict access from anyone remaining at the plant. It took Geo-Blast two hours to mobilize, six hours to blast and wash the floor, and another two hours to demobilize. And then it was time to pass the project over to Floors and More.
