Gary Harvey, Wedge Roofing and Mark Holt, GE Scott Miller, Capital Painting 24 MAY 2018 COATINGSPROMAG.COM First place for the Specialty Project category, which covered any project that didn't fit into one of the other categories, goes to Wedge Roofing. e Realm Cellars Winery project included both spray polyurethane foam (SPF) and intumescent coatings in the wood stick framing of the building's ceilings and walls. According to the submission, the crew had a lot to accomplish. " T he ow ner was elated w ith the finished result. Wedge had accomplished many tasks: the rescue of a botched install from a previous contractor, chemical analysis to allow for a unique install strateg y, the protection of on-site personnel and production infrastructure, and, most important of all, the SPF application itself. It also turned out that Wedge Roofing's improved strateg y was not only timely for the client but also economically beneficial. As the previous installer had been paid in full, the inability to utilize the foam they had already installed would have meant a much costlier project. Because Wedge Roofing thought outside the box and utilized the expertise of others w ithin our industr y, they saved the client tens of thousands of dollars of removal and re-installation costs. More importantly, this approach allowed the har vest to continue uninterrupted during the most critical time in a w iner y's fiscal calendar. Without Wedge Roofing's artistic and impro - vised use of sprayed poly urethane foam, the worst case could have been a lost har vest from a beloved w ine, and the best case would have been substantial additional cost involved w ith facilities rental and the logistics of moving their operations to a new primar y rental facility during the busiest time of the season." Second place went to Capital Painting & Decorating, Inc. for Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site — W hite Haven. ere were only two projects that fit within the parameters for the Specialty Project category this year.
