Revitalizing Dallas On the vertical surfaces, the crew had to come up with a safe way to apply the 400° F (204° C) coatings. Wearing personal protective equipment, they decided on trowels to pull the material up the concrete surfaces. Working over free flowing traffic with a hot coating was definitely a feat. Te EFVM method creates an electric feld by applying water to the surface of the membrane and using the water as a conductive medium. A low voltage charge is delivered between the non-conductive waterproofng membrane and the conductive structural deck. If a membrane is watertight, the potential diference will be isolated. Any breaches in the membrane will cause an electrical connection to occur. "Tis testing method allows applicators to go back and fx any pinholes quickly, sometimes even in the same day," said Wharton. Finishing Layers With the hot fuid-applied waterproofng asphalt coating in place and the EFVM tests completed, the crew installed the fnal layers of the Henry waterproofng system. Once these two layers were in place, the Chamberlin crew installed Henry DB650 drain boards, or polypropylene water retention and drainage composites. Tese boards are designed not only to keep excess water from escaping, but also to facilitate water movement toward the drains of the park deck. Te installation of the drainage boards marked the last step in the waterproofng process. "Geofoam was installed by others to bring all trenches up to the park level.
