Not only did I go through the whole routine for 18 years, but my father was a high school teacher until just recently, which meant that there were up to three out of four of us dealing with a whole lot of emotions come autumn. Heading back to school can be a jarring experience. For students, it can be exciting, terrifying, and aggravating all at the same time. I would imagine that parents might have similar emotions, as well as perhaps some additional experi- ences of peace and quiet. But I also remember that heading back to school brought a sense of relief. It was a chance to feel challenged again, to move physically and emotionally, to go back to having a routine and meeting diferent types of people. Lessons Learned Learning new things can be hard. W hether you've been a part of this industry for 40 or 4 years, if you're not continuing to learn, something's wrong. Right? In every issue of CoatingsPro, we hope that you can glean at least one new nugget to take back with you. Whether it's from our New and Noteworthy or Industry Briefs sections, expert articles, or feature stories, we hope that you might pick up an idea or item that's new to you and your business. Tat's what keeps things interesting, after all! Tis issue is no diferent. Te Contractor's Corner, for example, shares some tips on when and how to work over holiday breaks. You can read Dave McNeece's article on page 30. Interested in learning a bit about the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) new confned space standard? Hopefully you can learn a thing or two from Charles Brown's Safety Watch article in this issue (page 38). In Jack Innis's feature story, called "Casino Gambles Big on New Flooring System," the contractors use a special method to make the sky blue foors look like there are clouds on them. See that article on page 50 to read some of the contractor's techniques on how he made that work. Want to see how one coatings contrac- tor worked in cold temperatures? Check out Jennifer Frakes's feature on page 74 called "In Cold Water: Cold Weather Challenge at Reservoir" to get some tips from applicators in the feld. Reach Out! As with all of our issues of CoatingsPro, we hope that the information you can fnd within these pages will beneft you in some way or another. And we also want to hear from you. Know about a new technique or technology that others might learn from? Don't be shy! Email or call us, message us on social media, send us a carrier pigeon. You get the point — use whatever form of communication that might work for you but keep the ideas coming. We hope you learn from CoatingsPro, because we certainly learn from you, too!
